Chronicle treeIf you’re a humbug, stay home. But on second thought, you just might be converted this Friday during Christmas Light-Up in Oliver.

The Oliver Business Association (OBA) has a fun lineup of events and activities for the whole family from 3-8 p.m.

“It will be a very busy, fun and social time, so come out with your family and enjoy,” said Maureen Doerr from OBA.

Doerr said they are excited to have the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association on Main Street promoting Christmas cheer.

She noted the Sage Valley Voices will be singing up and down Main Street, as well as the children’s choir with Lori Martine  performing on the Town Hall steps.

Doerr said Mrs. Claus will be very busy in her workshop in the old Alberto’s store at 6222 Main Street.

Pictures with Santa begin at 3 p.m. at Royal LePage at Southwinds Crossing shopping centre. Santa will later catch a ride downtown on a fire truck at 5:45 p.m. prior to the official light-up ceremony at the Town Hall at 6 p.m.

The Youth Ambassadors will paint faces at Medici’s from 4-5:30 p.m. and from 6-7 p.m. at South Okanagan Immigrant Community Services.

Mrs. Claus’s workshop opens at 4 p.m. Bring the kids to the bouncy house and have them meet Sunny the Clown who will be making balloon animals.

Christmas cookies and milk will be served, and Valley First Credit Union will be sponsoring a colouring contest.

Pick up your poster board at Valley First this week.

Entertainment at the Town Hall starts at 5:15 p.m., and be sure to check out the food vendors downtown. There will be roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, apple cider and other goodies.

There will be a Christmas wreath contest and caroling by Sage Valley Voices.

The Oliver Community Centre will host some entertainment and a bonfire at 7 p.m. prior to a fireworks show at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, you are invited to “Breakfast With Santa” at the community centre from 9-11:30 a.m.

A free matinee (Box Trolls) will be shown at the Oliver Theatre at 2 p.m.
