A local mother was apprehended under the Mental Health Act after police received a “frantic” report that her daughter was abducted on Friday.

On Aug. 26 the Oliver RCMP received a report from a woman that her four-year-old daughter had been abducted from a local motel where the mother worked.

RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth said all officers from Oliver and Osoyoos, as well as a police dog handler from Penticton were deployed to search for the child.

“It was learned that the child was actually confirmed to be safe and at daycare with no concerns,” Wrigglesworth said.

The mother was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to hospital for an assessment.
