— Survey supports task force to look at amalgamation —
(OSOYOOS TIMES — Feb. 21, 2007) —
The Osoyoos Chamber of Commerce is in favour of launching a task force with the Chambers in Oliver and Okanagan Falls to look at some form of amalgamation.
Osoyoos Chamber President Neil Brimblecombe says a good response to a Feb. 5 Chamber questionnaire by local member-businesses showed they overwhelmingly approved of setting up the task force.
As a result, Brimblecombe says, the Osoyoos Chamber is in agreement with a task force investigating a co-operation agreement between Chambers.rnThe Osoyoos Chamber questionnaire said the directors of the Osoyoos, Oliver and Okanagan Falls Chambers see a number of benefits to a co-operation agreement, including:rn* Sharing resources and lower costs.
* More community and political credibility because of a larger membership.
* Opportunity to network among a larger number of businesses.
