Starting Wednesday burning restrictions in the Kamloops Fire Centre, which includes the Okanagan, are no longer in place.

Effective noon Sept. 18 Category 2 and Category 3 open fires are permitted throughout the centre’s jurisdiction due to a decreased risk of wildfires in the region.

Equipment and activities now allowed include fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels and burn cages, binary exploding targets and tiki torches.

The rescinding of burning restrictions apply to all public and private lands, unless specified by local governments.
