A special fundraiser for this year’s Purina Walk for Dog Guides in Oliver will be held this Friday, May 10 at the Firehall Bistro from 11 am to 8 pm.
Proceeds from sales that day will go towards the cause of helping Canadians with disabilities through guide dogs.
The Lions Foundation of Canada trains dog guides to give the disabled greater independence, mobility and safety. The five programs in which dog guides are trained include the following: Canine vision, hearing ear, autism assistance, special skills, seizure response, and diabetic alert.
The Purina Walk for Dog Guides is planned for Sunday, May 26 in Lions Park, starting at noon. People are encouraged to join the fundraiser with their dogs or their neighbour’s dog.
