The town of Osoyoos has lifted the swimmer’s advisory on Cottonwood Beach after receiving news that recent water samples returned satisfactory results.
The advisory was announced on June 14, after water samples taken from the beach showed more than 200 e.coli bacteria per 100ml of water. At this level, the water is not considered safe for public use.
Now that samples taken over a 30-day period have shown levels of less than or equal to 200 e.coli bacteria/100 ml, there is no longer reason to restrict the public from swimming or other aquatic activities at Cottonwood Beach as of Monday, June 27.
The public is encouraged to continue checking notices and alerts on the Town of Osoyoos website.
