POLICE KEEPING EYES PEELED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVERS

Local police want you to arrive home safely this holiday season, so they are letting the community know they’ll have their eyes open for impaired driving during the period around Christmas and New Year’s Day.
“This time of the year, certainly with all the office parties and the celebrations, we usually gear up that there is significantly more impaired driving cases in December and January,” said Staff Sgt. Kurt Lozinski, commander of the Osoyoos RCMP detachment.

TOWN NOW ENFORCING NEW TRAFFIC BYLAW WHICH DEALS WITH UNSIGHTLY, HAZARDOUS SIGNS

The Town of Osoyoos is cleaning up the streets – a few signs and unlicensed vehicles at a time.
“The new Traffic Bylaw prohibits anyone from erecting or placing any sign, sign board, advertisement, advertising device on any street or arterial highway or right-of-way unless they receive written permission from the Town or in the case of arterial highway or right-of-way, the Ministry of Transportation,” said Osoyoos’s director of corporate services, Janette Van Vianen.
