The Osoyoos Coyotes Junior Hockey Club has committed to its first three players and all of them are local.
The team has offered to sign Osoyoos’s Brock Anderson and Troy Quintal, as well as Oliver’s Thierry Martine, said Randy Bedard, director of business operations for the team.
The club held its spring prospect camp April 9, 10 and 11 at the Sun Bowl Arena and took the opportunity to evaluate some potential players.
Several members of the community are raising concerns about damage being caused to Osoyoos’s trail network from people using motor vehicles or dumping garbage.
Mayor Stu Wells said he’s upset that someone using a motorbike has already “ripped up” a section of recently completed trail which connects the Osoyoos Visitor Information Centre to the Osoyoos Airport and the Casitas Del Sol development to the west.

Read More“The planning department received a lot of information, and I think they heard it loud and clear,” said Osoyoos Mayor Stu Wells about a public information meeting held last week to answer the public’s questions about the Town’s proposed water zoning bylaw.
And it looks like that feedback from the public has substantially influenced the opinions of the Town’s elected officials.
“I believe it’s a little heavy-handed and onerous,” Wells said about the bylaw, adding he can’t give the official council position at this time but he is of the understanding the other councillors agree with his feelings.
