COUNCIL APPROVES COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT PERMIT FOR MARINA PROJECT

Osoyoos council gave unanimous approval at its Nov. 1 meeting to a development permit that will allow for the first phase of construction to take place on the Lions Park Marina.
The commercial development permit approved by council allows for commercial aspects of Phase 1 including the construction of 32 boat slips in the lagoon area between Lions Park and the Lake Osoyoos Sailing Club as well as upgrades to two boat launches at the site.

The pack haunted the Kelowna Chiefs with an 11-1 win on Oct. 30 as they came out looking for payback following a double-overtime loss to Penticton the evening before.

MOUNTAIN RESIDENTS DON’T WANT REGAL RIDGE TO DEDICATE PUBLIC PARKLAND

Most of the roughly 70 Anarchist Mountain residents who attended an open house in Osoyoos on Oct. 20 told representatives of the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) that they do not want public parkland within the mountain’s Regal Ridge development.
Under the Local Government Act, the RDOS has the right to require a developer to dedicate five per cent of land within a development site to the regional district as parkland when subdivisions take place.

TASK FORCE ON REGULATING LAKE USES MEETS FOR FIRST TIME

Members of the Lake Recreational and Commercial (LRCU) Task Force got their feet wet last week.
“I think council would like this to move along rapidly,” Osoyoos Mayor Stu Wells told the group assembled in council chambers on Oct. 20, adding he would like to see “a wrap” on the process by early 2011.
