An aspiring young mechanic in Oliver has won a Youth Work in Trades award worth $1,000.
Trent Murray, son of Chris and Kristina Murray from OK Tire, is a registered automotive service technician apprentice, and upon graduation was eligible for the award.
“Christmas arrived early for Trent,” said Rod Kitt, career education coordinator for School District No 53.
He explained that the Ministry of Education presents awards to eligible apprentice students in the fall and spring.
“We will have at least seven students from our school district eligible to receive this award,” Kitt said.
