Oliver area farmers should be able to start irrigating on April 11 if all goes according to plan.

That’s the turn-on date after the canal opens and waterworks are inspected from April 4-10.

In the meantime, repair work continues on the damaged section of flume at Gallagher Lake, where a rock slide cracked it on January 25. The temporary fix involves inserting two sleeves inside the siphon.

The Town is also working towards a more permanent fix which will involve additional rock scaling in the irrigation off-season.

All rock scaling, blasting, and shoring stabilization ceased as of March 18, followed by coordinating materials and equipment.

Site safety procedures have been established, leading up to the repair.
