“Upon police securing the area, the man barricaded himself inside his motorhome. While others in the area were removed to safety, the man remained barricaded and the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team was deployed,” Bayda said.
At 11:30 p.m., the man exited his motorhome and was taken into custody and a firearm was seized.
“Thankfully, no members of the public were injured in what was a very dynamic event,” Bayda said. The man, who has not been identified, has been remanded in custody to appear again before the courts on June 2, 2026.
Bayda noted that as the matter is still under investigation and before the courts, no further information will be released at this time.
