A dynamic duo of brothers from Alberta are the latest commitments to the Osoyoos Coyotes.

Forward Connor Funke, 18, and his brother, goalie 20-year-old Braedyn Funke out of Sherwood Park, Alta. committed to the Coyotes last week.

“(Braedyn) is going to be a huge leader on the team as well as a 20-year-old goalie and  Connor is a real powerful forward. Quick, he’s got a quick shot, very positional hockey,” said Coyotes head coach Dean Maynard.

The brothers have signed a commitment to the Coyotes, but are still attending the team’s main camp from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.

“They are still coming to main camp, and from there most likely signing a player agreement card,” Maynard said.

“They’re brothers and they have a lot of experience in hockey, both playing junior hockey so we are looking forward to having them on the team this year,” Maynard said.

Maynard, who was announced as head coach in April, praised the staff and ownership at the Coyotes for their ongoing work in the off-season to bring recruits to Osoyoos.

“We’re still doing heavy recruitment and possibly doing some trades here. We’re looking at definitely being a stronger team than last year and we’re looking for winners. That’s what we are looking for,” Maynard said.
