Editor:
This year my Christmas wish is that children and adults understand the meaning of Christmas.
It is not about shopping or getting the biggest, best, newest gadget.
It is about giving, caring, sharing and empathy for our fellow man.
It is so much more than shopping for expensive gifts that we don’t really need.
This is a special day, the day Christ was born.
Regardless if you are a religious person or not, this is the reason for the holiday.
The celebration of a new beginning.
As parents we always want the best, most, newest gift to fill our children’s wants.
The retail industry makes a ton of money and I am afraid that the true meaning gets lost in all the excitement of the holiday season.
It is the Christmas season.
So this year, give some thought about why we have this holiday.
Enjoy the simple things, share some laughter with your loved ones and give joy in knowing how fortunate we are.
I wish you a Merry Christmas.
