There are a few tired firefighters in Oliver today after they attended a smouldering brush pile that spread to an outbuilding north of town early this morning.
Fire department spokesman Rob Graham said they were called out to the Howling Moon Craft Cider area on Highway 97 to deal with a leftover leaf/brush fire at approximately 3:45 a.m. He noted that sometime during the night a wind-blown spark or ember likely caused the fire to spread to an outbuilding about 20 feet away. The fire also jumped to some trees and a field nearby, Graham said.
Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the one building that sustained some damage.
No injuries were reported.
