A fire discovered last Thursday evening in the Richter Mountain area has been declared out.
According to fire information officer Gagan Lindhran, the fire was suspected to be human caused, and no structures were threatened.
Lindhran praised the work of the crew members who put out the fire.
“Crews were able to respond effectively yesterday, and it was declared out earlier today,” said Lindhran. “[They] responded quickly and got it wrapped up.”
Lindhran had urged British Columbians to be cautious, especially going into the long weekend.
The danger rating is quite high in that area,” Lindhran said.
“We want to reduce the risk of human caused wildfires, as we do see some lightning in the forecast, and while we can’t prevent lightning we can prevent the cause of human fires or starts from human fires.”
