A COVID-19 precaution has closed the Town Hall office in Oliver.
Chief Administrative Officer Cathy Cowan said the town closed the office as a precautionary measure while a staff member is being tested for COVID-19.
“We’re waiting for results and will provide an update at that time,” she told the Times-Chronicle at noon on Monday, July 13.
When asked what prompted the staff member to be tested, Cowan said the employee was not feeling well, therefore, a test is necessary as per health protocols.
The Town of Oliver will continue to offer services online and over the phone. Essential services including fire services, drinking water, wastewater treatment, enforcement of bylaws, recycling and garbage collection will continue.
Quarterly utility invoices will be in the mail this week. Residents can pay by e-transfer, internet/telephone banking, mail, or drop a cheque in the mail slot at Town Hall.
Town staff continue to be available by telephone or email.
Council’s regular meeting today will be held via Zoom (available to the public by webcast).
