A woman is in critical condition in hospital and a man is in custody following a serious assault late Wednesday night in Osoyoos.
Roderick Ashley Flavell, 62, is facing a charge of aggravated assault by the BC Prosecution Service and remains in custody at this time.
On April 8 at 11 p.m., Osoyoos RCMP were alerted to a woman in need of possible medical attention inside a residence located within the golf course subdivision. Frontline officers responded to the home where they located a 60-year-old woman in medical distress suffering from obvious trauma.
The woman who suffered what RCMP believe to be “life-threatening injuries,” was transported by BC Emergency Health Services to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Flavell was arrested in connection to the incident, RCMP said.
“Both parties were well known to one another, police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public,” said Sgt. Jason Bayda, Osoyoos RCMP Commander.
