A severe thunderstorm could be passing through Osoyoos on Friday evening.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch on Friday morning, advising Okanagan residents of potential heavy rains, large hail and flash flooding.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the alert from the national weather agency states.

Flash flooding and water pooling on roads could occur as a result of heavy rains, Environment Canada advises.

A 30 per cent chance of rain remains for Saturday, but the national weather agency is predicting sun and clear skies over the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to hit 27ºC on Sunday, and 28ºC on July 1.
