Two young women trapped in rapids underneath a drop structure north of Oliver had to be rescued by firefighters this afternoon.
The women, wearing lifejackets, were floating down the Okanagan River when their dingy got caught in some rapids under the second drop structure north of Fairview Road bridge.
Firefighters managed to pull them into shore with ropes at approximately 3:15 pm.
No injuries were sustained in the rescue.
Fire Chief Bob Graham later confirmed that the fire department provided the women with lifejackets before rescuing them.
