The Town of Oliver has authorized the payment of $107,000 to T&A Rock Works for scaling work at Gallagher Lake last month.

In January a rock slide damaged a section of underground irrigation canal, which prompted a temporary fix to ensure farmers received water by mid-April.

Scaling work was needed to ensure the safety of work crews during the repair.

Because the situation was deemed an emergency, Town staff were not required to follow request for proposal guidelines as part of the municipality’s purchasing policy.
