The Town of Oliver has “great news” for irrigation customers.
The start date of the 2016 irrigation season is confirmed for April 18.
The temporary fix to the Gallagher Lake siphon is complete and the Town is confident that the repairs will allow the irrigation season to start on Monday.
A permanent fix is slated in the fall.
The siphon was damaged in January due to a rock fall.
On April 13, a Public Works crew began filling and preparing the canal and all pump houses for irrigation start-up.
Town staff say they appreciate farmers’ understanding during this “natural disaster” and wishes them a bountiful season.
