Recreation programs are all wrapping up this week and many customers have registered for new fitness and recreation programs starting up in January to confirm their participation and have something to look forward to.
If you have misplaced your Fall/Winter Recreation Guide you can always come by the office for another one or view the guide online at www.oliverrecreation.ca
The annual Winter Wonderland Family Skate is taking place at the Oliver Arena this Saturday, Dec 20 from 6-8pm.
Special decorations and holiday music will fill the ice, enjoy the SuperValu cookie decorating station and the Lion’s Club will have delicious concession items for sale including hot chocolate for $1.
Admission is free and free skate rentals are available while supplies last. Helmets are mandatory for all children 12 and under.
Be sure to check out the special holiday skating schedule which includes several opportunities for parents & tots, families and seniors to get out skating between Dec 20-Jan 2.
There are even some special family shinny hockey times available which are a really fun way for players of all abilities to get out and have some fun playing Canada’s favourite winter sport.
Shinny players must all wear CSA approved hockey helmets, gloves and jack or jill protection, and full padding is highly recommended.
Regular public skating admissions will apply for the additional holiday skating and shinny hockey sessions. For a full listing of holiday skating times, visit www.oliverrecreation.ca.
The Oliver Arena will be closed at noon on Dec 24 until 7 am Saturday Dec 27 as well as Dec 31 and Jan 1.
Give the gift of recreation to someone you love this Christmas! Gift certificates are available at the recreation office that can be used towards any membership, fitness or recreation program. What a great stocking stuffer idea for those would like to be more active.
Weight Room holiday hours are now posted at the facility and on our website. A reminder to past weight room members who have let their memberships expire, Dec 31 is the deadline to either renew your membership or return your key for deposit.
The Recreation Office will be closed Dec 24-26, at noon on Dec 31 and Jan 1.
