The Oliver RCMP is looking for three men in connection with a suspicious house fire in Willowbrook on September 17.

Police and members of the Willowbrook Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Orofino Creek Road at approximately 10:30 am.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation and does appear to be suspicious at this point,” said RCMP Sgt. Ken Harrington.

Of particular interest to police is any information from the public about identifying three males on dirt bikes and a female who were observed in the area at the time of the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call 250-498-3422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Willowbrook Fire Chief Brad Fossett said four members attended the scene with two vehicles approximately five kilometres up the road. He said their focus was making sure the fire didn’t spread.

“It was amazing how little the surrounding area (around the home) was affected.”

There was no report of any injuries.

Fossett said the small home was basically “incinerated” overnight.

Kelsey Winter, fire information officer with the Ministry of Forests, said a three-person attack crew responded to the fire that spread into grass and adjacent brush.

Winter said the structure was actioned by the fire department with assistance from the RCMP.

“The fire remained spot-sized and is now in patrol status. A crew will return to the site today to ensure the wildfire is out.”

Winter said the fire is believed to be human-caused.
