Boundary-Similkameen MLA Linda Larson’s constituency office is fully operational and ready to serve residents.

The former town councillor finally opened her doors to the public on September 3 and said she is encouraging constituents to come in and discuss the issues that matter most to them.

Though Larson hasn’t had an office to operate out of, her constituency assistants Pat Vermiere and Colleen Misner said the rookie MLA has been hard at work touring the riding and preparing for the upcoming UBCM conference, since being sworn into office in June.

“Linda is an effervescent politician,” said Vermiere.

“One minute she’s meeting with a mayor and the next she’s in a golf cart headed up the side of a mountain to look at a watershed.”

“She never stops and it keeps us very busy. She works hard and she’s extremely compassionate,” added Misner.

Misner said Larson represents one of British Columbia’s largest and most geographically and economically diverse ridings, which gives Larson an equally diverse range of issues to address at the legislature in Victoria.

Among the top ongoing issues she is addressing are the challenges faced by seniors living in rural communities.

These challenges include health care, housing and transportation. According to Larson, there are more seniors in the Boundary-Similkameen than in any other riding in BC.

Larson said she is also focusing on a series of projects aimed at improving safety on Highway 3.

In the meantime, she said she will continue to address the concerns of her constituents as they come.

Constituents with concerns or problems are urged to book an appointment to speak with Larson, and can do so by contacting the office at 250-498-5122 or emailing [email protected].

Larson’s office is located at 6369 Main Street in Oliver.
