If you’re wondering what Oliver was like in 1922, August 18 is your chance to find out. Join the Oliver Women’s Institute as it celebrates 90 years of working in the community.
The celebration will take place on Sunday beginning at 11 am with an opening ceremony followed by a brief presentation about historical Oliver, led by Helen Overnes. Entertainment includes music from “Paul and Friends,” team games (ages 6–12), face painting, and an obstacle race for adults.
There will also be a meet and greet, and a family picnic, followed by a birthday cake. Water, juice and ice cream will be provided.
The festivities will take place at the Oliver Community Stage. Admission is $2 per family. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic as well as hats, chairs, rugs, umbrellas and sunscreen. For more information call 250-498-4705.
