Summer has come to a close and our beautiful town has started to take a break from the hustle and bustle of tourist season.

The leaves are starting to fall and school has resumed as autumn is well underway.

We welcome the calm arrival of the snowbirds.

For Princess Laura Devries and me, September was a nice change after a busy summer filled with travelling, work and fun.

On Sept. 14, we had the opportunity to attend the celebration for the completion of Phase 2 of Gyro Park.

Hundreds of people showed up to enjoy the live entertainment and free food. There was also a bouncy castle and a face painting station that the kids loved.

It was great to see so many enjoying our community and enjoying the beauty of our surroundings.

Three days later, we went to the Peachland Royalty pageant to watch our dear friends, Daphne and Bianca, retire and the new royalty be crowned.

At the start of our time in Peachland, we attended a lunch and visited with the Royalty of different communities.

After lunch, we were divided up into teams and sent off to different stations, where we competed in an indoor Amazing Race, with games such as a blind baby food taste test, charades and even Yahtzee.

It was tons of fun and my team won the Yahtzee portion.

Later, we took a tour of the historic Peachland primary school and learned about the bats that live in the attic of the building.

For the evening, we put on gowns and headed to the pageant and dance, where everyone expressed congratulations to the newly-crowned ambassadors and said a final goodbye to the retiring ones.

It was an amazing weekend!

It’s good that September wasn’t overly busy with Royalty, so we’ve had a chance to get back into the rhythm of school.

I keep looking forward to new adventures.
