Dear Editor:

What a great idea it was for the Town of Osoyoos council to invite local residents to a party to celebrate the new improvements to Gyro Park.

The park looks lovely and will be enjoyed by all of us residents here in Osoyoos for years to come.

It was good to see so many friends and neighbours there – and it was especially nice to see the children having fun.

However, I have only one complaint and it’s a big one. Why do the musicians have to have the sound turned up so loud?

People had to leave this wonderful community celebration because of the noise.

This seems to happen time and time again. The “music” before and during the Canada Day fireworks on July 1 was just terrible and it spoiled the beauty of the fireworks display.

Surely by now, we have heard how damaging loud noise is to our ears.

We did enjoy most of the Friday concerts in the park, especially the last one, and I would like to thank the organizers of this concert series.
