April 12: Plans for an independent high school in Osoyoos are moving forward.
The Osoyoos Community School Committee has been put together to explore alternatives and come up with a solution in time for the September 2016 school year.
The committee is spearheaded by Dr. Jason Bartsch, an Osoyoos dentist, who is working with the Town of Osoyoos and other community members.
The town has offered “resources of the community” for the effort.
The committee has adopted the social media hashtag #OsoyoosStrong, and Jamie Elder, of Unity Osoyoos, has been producing t-shirts with this hashtag.
The shirts will be given out to students at Osoyoos Secondary School and will be sold in the community for a minimum donation of $20, with proceeds going to the independent school.
Bartsch says the plan is to encourage Osoyoos residents to wear the shirts each Friday.
Check this week’s Osoyoos Times and OsoyoosTimes.com for further details.
