Dear Editor:

I really enjoyed Mr. Johnston’s letter to the editor in the recent edition of the Osoyoos Times and how true it was.

I have lived in Osoyoos for almost 78 years and have never seen our lake dry and I doubt we ever will.

I believe we should all conserve water, natural gas and electricity, but don’t tell me we are short of water.

I hope the town does not spend $2 million on installing water meters and please don’t spend any more taxpayer dollars on conducting surveys.

I think the reason  for water restrictions last summer was to cut back on the cost of pumping water up to the town’s tanks, which distribute the water to citizens across the community.

The $30,000 the town spent on the survey could have been better spent on power to pump water.

We should also leave the $2 million in town instead of giving it to some company’s bank account from out of town.

I’m all in favour of imposing sanctions that allow us to water our lawns every other day because I think we will save more water and have less people upset.

And we can still have a lot of nice, green yards.

Thank you very much for allowing me this  space in your paper.
