The Oliver Flying Club is offering kids a chance to fly in a plane for free on Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The club is a member of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) that offers one-day flying excursions for children age 8-17. And it’s the first time that the local club is offering the event in Oliver.

“We want to get kids interested in aviation,” said club member Phil Anderson.

Parents must fill out a pre-registration form at the airport on June 6 or online at www.copaforkids.org.

Anderson said four planes will be available to take kids for a 20-minute flight. At the end of their excursion, children will receive a certificate signed by the pilot.
