Oliver’s legendary world record-breaking cherry pie hasn’t stopped attracting media attention since it was baked in 1990.
The pie is the focus of a new episode of historical TV show BC Was Awesome, released on Tuesday.
A film crew came to Oliver in January to film the episode and joined the local Rotary Club, responsible for constructing the original 37,713 pound pie, at an event commemorating the record.
The episode features the event, as well as a few locals; host Bob Kronbauer bakes his own pie with Carolyn Madge, who was park manager at the time, and her daughter Colleen Misner.
The show highlights odd stories of B.C.’s history, and the pie was just that.
“Weird history is how we build the show,” Kronbauer told the Chronicle at the time. “We find weird stories and the Guinness World Record’s biggest pie was the weirdest one we could find.”
