Being able to travel to Spain and play golf against some of the best young professional talent in the world was something Dylan Holz probably only dreamed of a few months ago.
But those dreams are about to come true thanks to Wayne Hachey and the Osoyoos Desert Golf Academy.
This past Saturday evening, Hachey, the founder of the golf academy, announced that Holz, 18, would be the latest beneficiary of the academy’s “Create a Star” program.
Hachey, who has been an owner and promoter with various professional golf tours across Europe for the past 20 years, will be taking Holz on a trip he will never forget starting in January.
Not only will the talented teenage golfer get the opportunity to play against professionals in a couple of tournaments on the new Evolve Pro Tour in southeastern Spain, but he will also spend several weeks working behind the scenes, helping Hachey and his partners organize various tournaments.
Last year, Hachey took David Montreuil on an extended trip to Spain where he also had the opportunity to play in a couple of tournaments and observe professionals and how they prepare over the course of several weeks.
On Saturday night, Montreuil described how the trip to Spain was the highlight of his young life and how much the “Create a Star” program has meant to him as he continues to work towards his goal of becoming a professional golfer.
Hachey deserves a lot of credit for creating the program and helping create an exciting life experience for these youngsters. Holz said he has little doubt he’s going to have an “awesome time” over in Spain and can’t wait for the adventure to begin.
Several other young talented golfers from the Osoyoos area are going to be able to dream big and get the opportunity of a lifetime thanks to this great program.
