OSOYOOS RESIDENTS TRAPPING CATS ON THEIR OWN

Editor:

Is your family pet missing?

Chances are the Osoyoos Town Hall will know what happened to it.

In the last month many cats have been quietly trapped.

The bylaw officer has been collecting cats from any member of the public who have set traps in their yard.

So if you have a neighbour who happens to hate grandma's little Fluffy, he just sets a trap, opens a can of tuna…and poof!

Fluffy is no more.

This is any residential area in Osoyoos, not necessarily in the Peanut Pond area where a feral problem exists.

After the family cat disappeared, it was discovered that this trapping was going on in the neighbourhood.

After many calls and with the help of Councillor Allan Carswell, I believe that the involvement of the town hall with these vigilante home trappers has been stopped (if you are trapping, please call the SPCA as they will advise you of the law.)

Also, a system will be put in place for people to try and find their pets and stricter rules to stop future family pet abductions.

The family cat is still missing.

I don't have much hope of her return, but maybe future pets will be saved.

Many thanks again to Councillor Allan Carswell for he was incredibly helpful and efficient in getting this issue the attention it needed at the town hall.

I know you have saved many families from the heartache of a missing pet.
