Conventions boost profile for Town of Osoyoos
The Town of Osoyoos has been host to a couple of great conventions over the past few weeks.
This is good news to the Town of Osoyoos and our merchants. As a community, we have had the chance to showcase ourselves to a great number of people.
Many who were in Osoyoos to attend their conventions made very positive comments about the warmth and friendliness of Osoyoos residents and the great support from our local business owners.
The B.C. Cattlemen's Association held its convention and AGM at the Sun Bowl Arena at the end of May, with over 300 guests in attendence.
The convention attracted both Premier Gordon Campbell and NHL Hockey Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald.
A week later, the B.C. Elks and Royal Purple held its annual convention, with over 250 Elks and Royal Purple delegates in town, including Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks of Canada, Al Busby.
Many people who came to Osoyoos said they would definitely be back for another visit, which just goes to show that people are realizing we are truly B.C.'s gem in the desert.
Any doubt that Osoyoos is not yet on the map when it comes to everything we have to offer has to be eroding.
Osoyoos residents and merchants should feel proud that we are being chosen to host such well-attended conventions. The economic spin-offs for the tourism industry are clear.
We should congratulate ourselves for doing such a fantastic job.
