The tournament, put on in partnership with Golf Canada, is comprised of four different events including female golfers 25 and over in the mid-amateur tournament, golfers 40-plus in the mid-masters tournament, 50-plus in the senior championship and 60-plus in a super-senior championship.

So far, 120 volunteers signed up to the event, which will host an estimated total of 156 players.

The tournament will bring players from the U.S. and as far afield as Australia from Aug. 17 to 20.

Council discussed possible donations or in-kind efforts to assist the golf club in putting on the tournament. At Monday’s meeting Mayor Sue McKortoff asked town staff to submit a report at a future council meeting exploring different ways the town could assist the tournament.

The entry deadline for the tournament is Wednesday, July 17.
