They call this country a free country? Sounds more like communism or dictatorship to me.
The government sells us this legal drug tobacco, makes many tax dollars on us and then chooses to tell us where to smoke the damn thing. Stand 10 feet away from the building, now I am in the middle of the road.
Smokers are not the only ones who are polluting the air. Gas fumes, pulp and paper mills, fires, the spraying of the orchards, etc. We feel like common criminals just for a cigarette.
They are legalizing marijuana. I think that is great; now they make many tax dollars on the dope heads, and don’t tell me they are not polluting the air. It stinks more than a cigarette. I would not want to be a bar owner today. How much money did the bars spend for a smoking area? Millions. Now this does not comply with WCB. Bars are pretty well obsolete. People just stay at home for many reasons; the smoking issue, the cost of a beer, no tolerance for drinking and driving.
The junkies want a safe injection space. They have needle exchange, which is great if they all used them, so people don’t have to trip on the dirty needles. Us smokers want rights too. We all realize smoking is not good for us, but leave us diehards alone. We also don’t like to see all the dirty cigarette butts, so let’s put ashtrays and some coffee cans out so everyone has a place to butt out. This would also eliminate fire hazards.
Now there will be no smoking in the parks. I wonder if the potheads will be allowed to smoke their marijuana in the parks? The men who fought for our country are now fighting for the right for a cigarette; now they are standing in the cold outside of their legions.
In the new vehicles there are no ashtrays or lighters; great, now I guess people will just throw it out the window – more fire hazards. Who the hell is making up these rules? Throw me in the smoke jail.
Crystal Clear, Oliver
