Oliver firefighters had to be in two places at once today as they responded to two, back-to-back calls.

The first was an initially controlled burn that got out of control at a residence on Highway 97 just south of River Road. A burn reportedly got away from the property owner but it was quickly brought under control again.

Just after that call came in, another call saw firefighters racing to Road 2 south of town where a waste collection truck was reportedly smoking. That incident was quickly brought under control and no fire was observed at the scene.

A cause was not determined, and no injuries were reported.
