Oliver RCMP say the cause of Thursday’s single-vehicle accident on the Fairview Road bridge appeared to be a pre-existing medical condition and the setting sun.
“Speed, alcohol and distracted driving were all ruled out and are not factors, said Cst. Peter Wise.
The officer said the male driver in his 80s was released from hospital after being checked out.
Damage to city property consisted of a single sign at the bridge entrance.
“Oliver RCMP would like to thank the number of bystanders who immediately assisted prior to the arrival of emergency personnel,” Wise said. He also thanked everyone for their patience during the bridge closure.
