Re: No opposition for pot shop in Osoyoos, but location a concern
Dear Editor:
I feel compelled to respond to real estate agent Barb Pasternak’s statement that, among other things, “…cannabis is a viable business and is respectful … it should not be hidden.” I assume that Ms. Pasternak is not associated with the purchase or sale of the property, otherwise I would understand her involvement.
But let’s not play games here. With the exception of medicinal marijuana – which the Canadian Medical Association has definite concern with – the RCMP, the hospitals in general, and most important we parents and grandparents have no idea what the outcome of this drug will do.
We do know that there will be an increase in traffic deaths – which has been proven – an increase in arrests, and an increase in the emergency departments at the various hospitals. The sad part of all this is our children are going to suffer with these decisions.
Again, according to the Canadian Medical Association, potency and quantity restrictions should be established for those under the age of 25. Children and young adults’ brains are still developing. As Judy Dallas has rightly pointed out, our children should not be part of this deadly drug by being exposed to its outlets.
The question prevails: Are we really leaving a better place for our children and grandchildren with the approval of a drug called marijuana? I think not.

Unfortunately, Reefer Madness still exists.
What people like you don’t seem to realize is that it does’nt matter if cannabis is legal or not, I am 51 years old I have been smoking it since I was 14 I have never had any problem getting it in fact my freinds that grow it would. Prefure if it was illegal because the price goes up and they make more money.
I get publishing opinion pieces, but there is a huge difference when you are spouting out lies as facts. Opinion doesn’t change facts. I can’t believe a letter like this was published. Full of lies.
