Dear Editor:

While the fall RDOS fires do not compare with the summer wildfires, they still have locals running for the protection of their homes.

Sunday, Oct. 28 is just a case in point. The fires to the east of our homes were so high they were scary!

On Monday, Oct. 29 the smoke was so bad that many on the west side of town had to ensure they were indoors.

As a golfer at Osoyoos Golf Club, which brings in considerable monies to the community, I was appalled by the fire emissions.

The Meadows course, while not only suffering with foul fire-filled air, was covered in ash. If the course had been drier, the risk of wildfires from the blowing ash would have sparked considerable fires.

In a community that supposedly touts itself as being cognizant of the environment, it behoves the entire valley, both town and RDOS, to support the pristine community that many of us chose as home!
