Dear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to urge everyone to get out and vote in the upcoming municipal, school trustee, and regional district elections.

Some view this as less important than provincial and federal elections, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Those elected will be making decisions that affect your community. Their decisions will affect you and your children. Their decisions will affect your livelihood. Their decisions will affect your child’s education.

They will in fact, be making decisions that will affect every facet of your community and therefore your everyday life. Elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. We can’t take this responsibility lightly. We all must make our voices heard.

The second advance poll is taking place today, Oct. 17, at the Osoyoos Town Council chambers until 8 p.m. tonight and General Election day is Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sonora Centre.

Please get out and vote. Every vote counts.

Penny Duperron
