Lois Brummet, the president of Desert Valley Hospice Society (DVHS), was recognized recently for her many years of service in hospice and palliative care.

At the B.C. Hospice and Palliative Care Association’s conference on May 25 and 26 in Richmond, Brummet was presented with the B.C. Hospice Palliative Care Award of Excellence.

Brummet has been involved in several capacities at the local level for many years. Currently, in addition to serving as DVHS president, she does much of the training of hospice volunteers.

She was recommended for the provincial award by local colleagues, who knew of her work, and the BCHPCA board approved the recommendation.

Brummet has served in the past as president of BCHPCA and has been involved in a number of projects at the provincial and national levels.
