A wildfire on Green Mountain at Shatford Creek near Apex Mountain Resort is now considered “Under Control” by the BC Wildfire Service as of June 18. Caused by lightening the fire reached 0.7 hectares in size and was first detected on June 16.
In a post on social media the Apex Volunteer Fire Rescue said BC Wildfire Service brought in air resources on June 17 to aid wildfire suppression activities.
As of June 18 there are 85 active wildfires in the province with eight started and 10 declared out in the last 24 hours. In the last week 64 fires were declared out.
