Southern Okanagan Secondary School grads were floundering in a sea of pride and emotion Tuesday night.
As principal Tracy Harrington put it: “Tonight, it is all about you.”
This was followed up by teacher Lauren Ibaraki who encouraged them to not let it be just all about them, but about the people who helped the grads get there.
More than 90 graduates will be recognized this evening at Southern Okanagan Secondary School. Yes, they’ve grown up so fast.
As for tradition, they gathered at the “rockery” at noon today for a class photo, and as per usual, it was hot and muggy.
Tonight they say goodbye to a school that has nurtured them for four years. To teachers who took them under their wing and taught them what they needed to know. They also say goodbye to friends, which is always the hardest to do.
After tonight, the world awaits them. The adventure begins.
Stay tuned for a follow-up story on the ceremony, including the valedictory speech by Nathan Millward and Nimrit Sidhu.
In the meantime, enjoy the photos.
