A significant police presence as well as personnel from the B.C. Coroners Service was on the Osoyoos Indian Reserve this morning after reports of a shooting have emerged. 

The purported crime scene at 1000 block Pineridge Rd on the Reserve is currently taped off with police manning a barricade on the road restricting traffic. 

In Osoyoos, South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment Media Relations Officer Sgt. Jason Bayda said the Major Crimes Unit from Kelowna is on scene and handling the investigation and could offer no further details. Times Chronicle is awaiting more information from the Provincial RCMP media division. 

Sources have told the Times Chronicle however that the incident involved a shooting with possibly one male fatality. It is also believed that the incident was possibly a drug-related event. The incident is understood to have occurred last night with police guarding the scene overnight.
