Fire seems to be a common theme in Oliver this week.
Firefighters responded to yet another fire in the community, this time at the Oliver Laundromat at 9:30 p.m. on Station Street Thursday night.
It started with reports of smoke in the area. Entry was made into the Okanagan College campus building but no fire was found.
While on scene, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the laundromat across the street. Upon entry, heavy smoke and fire were observed. However, the flames were knocked down and adjoining businesses were searched and cleared of smoke.
The building sustained damage related to fire, smoke and water. No injuries were reported.
As to the cause, media relations officer Rob Graham said it appears that rags may have contained some sort of combustible/oil/grease that ignited in a dryer.
Earlier this week, fire crews were called to a suspicious fire at TPD Boutique north of Oliver, and a house fire on Merlot Avenue on Wednesday.
