Police and fire officials are investigating a “suspicious” blaze that damaged TPD Boutique north of Oliver near Tucelnuit Drive and Enterprise Way early this morning.

Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth said the call came in at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“We are investigating a fire that is suspicious in nature,” Wrigglesworth said, noting police are reviewing some closed circuit TV footage to aid the investigation.

There were no injuries.

Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham said there were two structures involved – the business shop and an adjacent trailer.

“We knocked down the fire in the one shop and made entry into the trailer to extinguish that fire. Both were a little bit difficult due to heavy locks on the one door which had to be cut. We did also have to cut through the one side of the trailer to make an exit hole so that we could ventilate properly.”

Graham said the fire is considered suspicious due to the time it was called in and “other things” that were exhibited on scene.

Firefighters were called back later in the morning to deal with smouldering debris.

Firefighters respond to a flare up at TPD Boutique Tuesday morning. Police and fire officials continue to investigate the suspicious blaze.
