Motorists between Oliver and Osoyoos beware . . . Highway 97 can be icy in some areas. At least it was this morning.

Oliver firefighters were called to a single-vehicle accident between Road 20 and 21 where a car slid off the highway and went down an embankment.

“The vehicle got sucked into the ditch due to snow and ice; slid in backwards,” said fire department spokesman Rob Graham.

The officer said there were no injuries but the occupants needed help getting back up the bank. Crews utilized a rope system to extricate two people from the ditch.

Firefighters on scene reported very slippery road conditions.
