The RCMP’s Southeast Major Crime unit is investigating the discovery of two bodies in Osoyoos yesterday.
The incident occurred in the Casitas Del Sol 55+ gated community next to the industrial park in Osoyoos.
In a brief statement, the RCMP said the SED Major Crime unit with the assistance of the South Okanagan RCMP is now investigating.
Officers have determined that the two individuals were known to each other, and emphasize that there is no threat to public safety.
Sgt. Jason Bayda, Osoyoos RCMP detachment commander cautioned that the investigation is still in the early stages and more information will be available pending next of kin notifications.
Posters on Facebook reported seeing a convoy of a police vehicles coming from Kelowna, as well as an RCMP helicopter that landed at Osoyoos Airport. Some netizens also reported sightings of drones in the air around the subdivision.
